Houston Texans Take A Knee

This football season started off with a lot controversy around kneeling or standing during the national anthem while football games are occurring. I ready discussed in an earlier blog posts about the details of the kneeling and how Donald Trump reacted to the players. But to refresh, Donald Trump said that these players should be fired because the ratings of football on ESPN has decreased and that they're bad for business. Fast-forward a couple weeks after football season started, the Houston Texans decided to take a knee for what their owner said. The Houston Texans owner, Bob McNair said "we can't have the inmates running the prison." The players on the football team and people on social media did not like this at all. The reason why this issue went viral is because of social media and all the sports news reporting this. McNair apologized for his remarks saying that he was not talking about the football players but in fact was talking about actual prisoners. He said it was taken out of context. But it was already too late because social media went crazy about the comment that was said. Do you think that the Houston Texans acted appropriately or did social media overreact?
